Presenter: Dr. Sophia Chen, Geriatrician and Ashby Village Board Member
Sophia began her healthcare journey with an MPH at UCLA. There she pursued a Community Health Focus and became interested in working with older adults. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Kaiser Santa Clara and her Geriatrics Fellowship at Stanford University.
In her many years of practice since then, she has learned that there is more to good health than medicalized services.
She works in the community at various nursing facilities and visits patients in their homes, which continuously informs her search for an improved way to provide well integrated healthcare services.
Her specific area of interest is in dementia and she is currently finishing an internal study with Kaiser about racial and ethnic differences in dementia diagnose and management.
