Trump has slashed federal healthcare funding for California by $100 billion over the next five years. Three million Californians will lose care, community clinics and hospitals will close, and healthcare workers will lose their jobs. When access to care is denied, people die. We refuse to let that happen. Union members, the elderly, people with disabilities, people on Medi-Cal, community groups, and healthcare activists will participate in a die-in to dramatize the terrible consequences of these budget cuts.

Massive cuts to federal healthcare funding will hurt all of us.

Trump and Republicans slashed healthcare funding, resulting in $100 billion in cuts in just the next five years. Our state is facing a looming collapse of our healthcare system.

• Hospitals and ERs closing: Rural hospitals and health clinics are already closing; it will only get worse.

• Lost care: An estimated 2 million Californians will lose access to care.

• Fewer healthcare workers: An estimated 145,000 healthcare jobs will be lost. Who will be left to care for us and our loved ones?

• Cuts to behavioral health programs: Cuts to behavioral health and HUD will devastate people with mental health and substance use disorders. More will end up homeless, jailed, or dead.

• Reduced services: Losing access to Medi-Cal will mean hundreds of thousands no longer receive reproductive health services, vaccinations or screenings for tuberculosis and HIV.

Healthcare is a human right. We call for:

• Our elected representatives oppose the federal cuts to healthcare.

• Californians to vote YES on the Billionaire Tax Act in November to replace the funding lost with HR1 cuts to healthcare.

• No discrimination against immigrants in healthcare access

• Support Medicare for all in California.
