Eviction Moratoriums:East Bay Housing Organizations

Hello Gray Panther Friends,

East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) logoJoin us online for a member meeting at 1:30 TODAY. We can't meet in person right now, but we are doing our utmost to gather together using appropriate technology so we can see and hear each other and keep our important conversations going.Alex Werth of East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO)

Alex Werth (right) from East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) will discuss "Eviction Moratoriums 101" - an update on the status of renter protections in Alameda County, Berkeley, and Oakland.

Alex Werth, EBHO Policy Associate, is an urban geographer with 10 years of experience working to promote just development in the Bay Area. Owing to his ancestral experience of diaspora and displacement as an Ashkenazi Jew, he’s committed to working in solidarity with the communities most impacted by systems of oppression to protect the places they called sacred—starting with home. Since moving to the East Bay in 2009, he’s worked on issues of affordable housing and anti-displacement at Bay Area Economics, the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, and the City of Oakland’s Cultural Affairs Division. In 2019, he received a PhD in Geography from UC Berkeley, where he researched the longstanding role of music and dance in campaigns to empower, but also police, Oakland’s working-class communities of color. Outside of work, he’s a DJ and event producer who loves to build joyful spaces for communal connection on the dance floor.

East Bay Gray Panthers is a member of EBHO. Learn more about EBHO and its activities, including Affordable Housing Week, at its website:
